288 Classes Scheduled at RootsTech 2016

There are presently 288 classes scheduled at RootsTech 2016 over four days, February 3 - 6, 2016. This does not yet include all of the classes during the Family Discovery Day on Saturday, February 6, 2016. If you were to attend classes during every available class period, you would be able to attend only about eight or ten classes so you will have to carefully consider your selections.

To help with scheduling, RootsTech has developed an app for iOS and Android devices available fro free from the App Store or the Google Play Store. The Conference is held in the Salt Palace, a very large building, and I suggest that you might want to consider the time it will take you to move from one class to another. I would also suggest planning on alternative classes in case the one you want to attend is full.

As in years past, the Exhibit Floor will also be the site of a lot of unscheduled classes. In fact, you could probably spend most of your time listening to presentations from the vendors rather than attending scheduled classes. For example, I am presently scheduled to do two presentations for MyHeritage.com at their booth on Thursday and Saturday at 3:15 pm. These will be relatively short presentations. A lot of the other vendors will be presenting classes on the Exhibit floor also.

The class listings for RootsTech 2016 have a selection of "filters" that allow you to focus the classes on a specific skill level or track.

My experience in the past indicates that I generally over-plan by conference schedule and I usually end up spending more time talking and looking around on the Exhibit floor than I do going to classes but there are enough opportunities and options to cater to almost everyone's interests.
